Marine Corps Enlisted Weapon Repairer

The United States Marine Corps Small Arms and Precision Weapons Repairer is a job skill that is very important in today’s Marine Corps. It is not a job for everyone, it is a field that has a lot of competition and requires a great deal of skill. The Marine Corps small arms repair specialty deals with the maintenance, inspection, repair and at times fabrication of small arms and other precision weapons systems. The Marine Corps trains their small weapons armors and repair technicians in state of the Art repair techniques, and they work in support of the Depot Maintenance, the Competition in Arms Program, and various other Intra Service Support programs.
To work as a United States Marine Corps Repair Specialist, you have to have skill with tools and a certain amount of physical and manual dexterity. The Marine Corps Weapons Repairer training is both in the classroom and on the job. A candidate will be at least a Corporal and have at least three years left on their obligated enlistment, the training that the Marine Corps invests in their Precision Weapons Repair Personnel is valuable and they do not want to deal with short timers in training new personnel.

Army wounded marksmen aim for Warrior Games

Wounded warriors took aim at becoming members of the Army's 2010 Warrior Games team at a shooting clinic set up just for them last week by the elite Army Marksmanship Unit, here.

The second annual Warrior Games, scheduled for May 16-21 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., will feature 200 wounded, ill and injured service members from all branches of the armed forces.

Last year Army athletes took nearly every gold medal and the lion's share of silver and bronze medals in shooting events. Building on that success will be difficult, said Master Sgt. James Shiver, but he believes with training, instruction and mentors-hip from the Army Marksmanship Unit, the Army is raising the bar.

Cassidian Electronics wins multi-million euro contract from Royal Norwegian Air Force to deliver more than 100 AN/AAR-60 (V) 2 MILDS F sensors

Cassidian, the recently renamed defence and security pillar of EADS, will protect the F-16 fighter aircraft of the Royal Norwegian Air Force (RnoAF) against missile attacks. Cassidian Electronics has received a multi-million euro contract from RNoAF to deliver more than 100 AN/AAR-60 (V) 2 MILDS F sensors (MILDS F = Missile Launch Detection System, Fighter). Deliveries will commence in June 2011. During the project execution phase close contact to local authorities is supported by Oslo-based EADS Norway.

Ferro-Actuate-Magnetic-Sensor MPS-F-10

“MILDS F with its very low false alarm rate and fast detection combined with automatic initiation of countermeasures relieves the pilot’s workload in time-critical situations and ensures the safe return of both crew and aircraft”, explains Bernd Wenzler, CEO of Cassidian Electronics.

MILDS F is based on the MILDS (Missile Launch Detection System) sensor proven in service aboard a huge variety of rotary wing and wide body aircraft, including Tiger, NH90, CH-53, CH-47 and C-130 and is especially designed to operate in the harsh fighter aircraft environment. MILDS F is also ideally suited for installation on other fighter aircraft like Tornado, Eurofighter or Gripen.

History Of Pakistan AirForce

When the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) was established on August 15, 1947, it had only a small amount of aircraft and only few to fly that amount. There were even fewer places to fly from. The PAF came into being with only thirty-two C-47 Dakotas and types like Tempests, Harvards, Tiger Moths and Auster V's which were delivered to No. 5, 6 and 9 Squadron. Operating these types of aircraft in Pakistan was far from ideal.
The Jet age
Despite the lack of funds and market-places, Pakistan Air Force entered the jet age in August 1951 with the arrival of three first-generation jet fighters - British built Attackers. They formed the nucleus of the new Number 11 Squadron. Pakistan began to court the Americans, who agreed in principle to supply F-94Cs, F-86 Sabres and F-84s, the USAF's standard fighter-bomber. Finally, PAF opted for the F-86F Sabres. The PAF received 102 F-86F Sabres during the first stage followed by 90 ex West-German CL13B Mk.6s, which were referred to locally as F-86E. These Sabres were sold to Iran originally but were immediately resaled to Pakistan. During a ten year-period, from 1955 until 1965, a build-up of more modern material began with the deliveries of F-104 Starfighters and B-57 bombers.
The war of '65
On the 6th of September 1965 war broke out between India and Pakistan. During the beginning of this offensive a PAF F-104 shot down an Indian Air Force Mystère IV with one of its sidewinders making the first combat kill with a Mach 2-capable aircraft. Pakistan made counter attacks on Indian soil using F-104s, F-86s, B-57s and RT-33As. The war lasted for 23 days and in Pakistan it is considered a glorious victory for that country.

The Six-Day War between Israel and a number of Arab countries in 1967.
During this conflict the PAF sent personnel to Egypt, Jordan and Syria to support the Arabs in their battle against the Israelis. PAF pilots managed to shoot down ten Israeli aircraft, including Mirages, Mystères and Vautours, without losses on their own side. The PAF pilots operated with Egyptian, Jordanese and Iraqi combat aircraft.

The 90s
The 90s saw the delivery of further squadrons of F-7Ps. A large number of for RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) Mirage 3s found their way to Pakistan and were taken on charge after an upgrade. After the Mirage 3/5 was phased out with the French air force the PAF by far became the main user of Mirage 3/5 aircraft. The PAF also took over large number of Mirage 3/5 aircraft from France in the mid-ninetees.

The PAF Today
Things changed drastically in the new millennium. Not only was the Grifo 7 radar chosen for introduction in the F-7P (the radar being built bij the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex at Kamra), the PAF also received over 60 F(T)-7PG aircraft to replace the ageing F-6 Farmers. Additional Mirages were yet again acquired from Lebanon and Libya.

For their help in the anti-terrorism activities the US promissed military aid to Pakistan in 2002 and declared Pakistan a Major Non-NATO ally in 2004. This eventually led to the US granting permission to order and deliver F-16s to the country again. Furthermore six (former RAAF) C-130 are being delivered to bolster the transport capacity. The major earthquake in 2005 led to a delay in the order and the country is looking at a combined order for F-16s and the Chinese J10. The order for new built F-16C/D Block 50/52 was signed September 2006. It also included delivery of the F-16s that were affected by the embargo in the 90s!

KABUL, Afghanistan  Afghan and coalition forces detained a Taliban leader along with one suspected insurgent during a security operation in Gelan district, Ghazni province yesterday.

The Taliban leader was a cross-district and cross-provincial weapons facilitator involved in small and heavy arms weapons trade and distribution. Ashbury International Group’s military-grade sniper rifle

The ASW338 is a new military-grade sniper weapon system in .338 Lapua Mag. I need to stress the word “system,” since the rifle itself is only one of the components. The complete system includes day/night optics, rangefinders, computers, software and much more.
Ashbury International Group is not well known outside military procurement circles. They are not a gun company and are better described as a value-added equipment source. The company has over 20 years of experience in systems integration and training for military units. AIG is currently a prime contractor for the Marines, Army, SOCOM and DHS, delivering a variety of electro-optical devices and sniper-support equipment. The ASW338 system is a collaborative effort designed to give the sniper dramatically increased capabilities, in a package nearly identical in size and weight to the existing M40A3/M24 rifle series.

Knives, bayonets, multi tools, daggers and other pointy implements.

My personal "dream" knife is a handmade custom Emerson CQC6 folder with the linen micarta handle, not the plain factory-made Emersons and definitely not the "licensed" Benchmade version.
